Changan offers

Limited stock, and rates well under prime. Until 30 September.
Changan's Spring campaign runs on two models, and both are on the sharpest rates in the range. The Hunter 2.0 4WD AT CE double cab is R6 400 a month, financed at 4.92%, which is prime less 5.58%. The CS75 Pro CE is R5 362 a month for the five seater and R5 499 for the seven seater. Worth knowing on the CS75: the rate subvention makes the higher-specced CE cheaper every month than the CS below it, R5 362 against R6 208. Limited stock on both, and the campaign closes at the end of September.
Ends 30 September

48 months, no deposit, and a 64% guaranteed buy-back.
The Alsvin 1.4 MT CS on Changan's Guaranteed Future Value plan. A well-equipped sedan from R3 150 a month with nothing down, and R159 936 of its value guaranteed back after four years. Keep it, trade it or hand it back.
Ends 30 September

48 months, no deposit, and a 64% guaranteed buy-back.
The Uni-S 1.5T CS on Changan's Guaranteed Future Value plan. A tech-loaded compact SUV from R5 120 a month with nothing down, and R249 536 of its value guaranteed back after four years.
Ends 30 September

48 months, no deposit, and a 64% guaranteed buy-back.
The CS75 Pro CE on Changan's Guaranteed Future Value plan, from R489 900 with nothing down and 64% of the value guaranteed back after four years. Worth knowing: September's rate subvention makes the better-specced CE cheaper every month than the CS below it, R5 362 against R6 208. Same plan, more car, smaller instalment.
Ends 30 September

48 months, no deposit, and a 64% guaranteed buy-back.
The Hunter 2.0 2WD MT CS on Changan's Guaranteed Future Value plan. A proper double cab from R5 200 a month with nothing down, and R287 936 of its value guaranteed back after four years.
Ends 30 September

48 months, no deposit, and a 63% guaranteed buy-back.
The Hunter K50 REEV CE on Changan's Guaranteed Future Value plan, with nothing down. The range-extender electric double cab, with up to 1 000 km of combined range, from R10 499 a month and R503 937 of its value guaranteed back after four years.
Ends 30 September

48 months, no deposit, and a 63% guaranteed buy-back.
The Deepal S07 on Changan's Guaranteed Future Value plan. The electric flagship from R13 490 a month with nothing down, and R627 417 of its value guaranteed back after four years.
Ends 30 September

Changan SA's national offer: 72 months, no deposit, prime less 5.18%.
Changan South Africa's national finance offer on the Alsvin 1.4 MT CS at R2 999 a month with nothing down. The only one of the six national offers that needs no deposit at all. Seventy-two months and a 40% balloon at the end, so the monthly is lower than our own 48-month plan but you settle R99 960 at the end rather than handing the car back. We will run both past you.
Ends 30 September

Changan SA's national offer: 72 months, 10% deposit, prime less 3.00%.
Changan South Africa's national finance offer on the Uni-S 1.5T AT CS at R4 472 a month with a 10% deposit. A tech-loaded compact SUV on the longer 72-month term, with a 40% balloon at the end instead of a guaranteed buy-back. Worth comparing against our own Guaranteed Future Value deal before you sign either.
Ends 30 September

Changan SA's national offer: 72 months, 10% deposit, prime less 4.64%.
Changan South Africa's national finance offer on the CS75 Pro 1.5T AT 5-Seater CS at R4 725 a month with a 10% deposit. This is the entry CS trim on the longer term. Worth knowing before you choose: on our own 48-month plan the better-specced CE is the cheaper monthly of the two trims, which is not the case here. Ask us to put the two side by side.
Ends 30 September

Changan SA's national offer: 72 months, 10% deposit, prime less 4.52%.
Changan South Africa's national finance offer on the Hunter 2.0 4WD AT CE double cab at R5 999 a month with a 10% deposit. The full-house 4x4 automatic, on the longer 72-month term with a 40% balloon at the end. If the monthly matters more than the term, this is the sharper number; if you would rather hand the bakkie back at the end, our own plan does that.
Ends 30 September

Changan SA's national offer: 72 months, 10% deposit, prime less 3.18%.
Changan South Africa's national finance offer on the Hunter K50 REEV CE at R8 999 a month with a 10% deposit. The range-extender electric double cab on the longer term, with a 40% balloon at the end. Around R1 500 a month less than our own 48-month plan on the same truck, for two more years of payments and a lump sum at the end.
Ends 30 September

Changan SA's national offer: 72 months, 10% deposit, prime less 2.50%.
Changan South Africa's national finance offer on the Deepal S07 at R11 573 a month with a 10% deposit. The full-electric flagship on the longer 72-month term, with a 40% balloon at the end rather than a guaranteed buy-back. On an electric car that distinction is worth a conversation, because you are carrying the residual risk yourself. Come and ask us about it.

The story
Changan traces its roots back to 1862, making it older than every Japanese carmaker on the market. It began making cars in 1957 and today builds millions a year, including joint-venture engineering with Ford, Mazda, and PSA. The brand has come into South Africa hard, with a lineup that punches above its price point on tech, fit and finish, and refinement. The CS75 Plus competes feature-for-feature with European SUVs at half the on-road price, and the Hunter brings a serious twin-turbo diesel double-cab to the workhorse segment. Changan vehicles sold by Midbay Motors are backed by a 5-year / 150 000 km warranty and a parts pipeline that has matured rapidly through 2025. For KZN buyers who want a tech-forward SUV without paying European-brand premiums, Changan is the most credible option in the market.
Built at Changan's modern plants in China and imported by Changan South Africa, which now operates a national dealer and parts network with growing local stock and support depth.
Changan FAQs
Every new Changan sold by Midbay Motors comes with a 5-year / 150 000 km manufacturer warranty as standard, fully transferable to subsequent owners within the period. Service plans are offered separately, typically as 3- or 5-year packages. Changan SA has expanded the parts pipeline significantly through 2024–2025, with major service items now stocked nationally rather than relying on order-from-China supply.
Changan currently offers the CS35 Plus (compact SUV), CS55 Plus (mid-size SUV), CS75 Plus (flagship 5-seat SUV), and the Hunter range of double-cab bakkies. The Hunter is the lifestyle workhorse — twin-turbo diesel options, full off-road kit on top variants, and an interior that benchmarks European bakkies rather than budget rivals. Specific variant availability and trim levels change through the model year — call Midbay Motors for current stock.
The Changan Hunter Lion offers a 2.0L twin-turbo diesel (higher kW than the most popular 2.4 Hilux), an 8-speed automatic, selectable 4x4, and a class-leading interior with finishes that benchmark European bakkies. The Hilux holds the edge on long-term proven reliability and outright resale value. The Hunter holds the edge on equipment-per-rand, interior comfort, and engine torque on paper. For SA buyers, the honest pitch is: if you want resale certainty above all else, Hilux. If you want significantly more truck for the same money and accept a younger reliability track record, the Hunter wins.
Standard Changan tech includes a 12.3" or larger digital infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a full digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof on Plus variants, wireless phone charging on higher trims, heated and ventilated seats on flagship variants, and L2 ADAS (adaptive cruise, lane keep, blind-spot monitoring, AEB) on CS75 Plus and Hunter. The interior fit-and-finish benchmarks European brands rather than entry-level Japanese, which is one of the strongest reasons buyers cross-shop Changan against premium marques.
Changan is manufactured in China at the company's main plants in Chongqing and Hefei. Vehicles sold in South Africa are imported by Changan South Africa, which operates a growing national dealer and parts network. Changan has long-running engineering partnerships and joint ventures with Ford, Mazda, and the PSA group (Peugeot/Citroën), so component sourcing and quality systems draw on serious global automotive engineering, not just domestic Chinese supply chains.
Changan vehicles sold in South Africa are validated for African road and climate conditions before homologation. Reliability data from the SA market through 2024–2025 has been broadly positive — the brand has not had a major reliability scandal, the warranty claim rate has been within normal industry ranges, and the parts pipeline has matured. Honest disclosure: any newer brand has a shorter track record than Toyota or Ford, so absolute long-term certainty is still being built. For now, the warranty length backstops the risk.
The CS75 Plus 2.0T petrol typically returns around 8.5–9.5 L/100 km on the SA combined cycle, with city driving in the 10–11 range and steady-state highway cruising closer to 7.5–8. Diesel bakkie variants in the Hunter range run in the 7–8.5 L/100 km region with normal load. These are real-world SA numbers from owner reports, not factory-lab figures. Expect higher consumption in heavy traffic, sand driving, or towing — same as every other vehicle in the segment.
Changan's pitch is interior quality, technology, and premium feel at value pricing. The brand's modern plants in Chongqing build millions of vehicles a year and supply joint ventures with Ford, Mazda and PSA, which shows in the fit-and-finish on every car that lands in South Africa. The CS75 Pro benchmarks European mid-size SUVs on interior materials, panoramic roof, ADAS suite and cabin tech — for half the on-road price. The Hunter brings the same premium feel to a lifestyle double-cab bakkie with a twin-turbo diesel. Every new Changan sold by Midbay Motors is backed by a 5-year / 150 000 km warranty and an SA parts pipeline that has matured rapidly through 2025.
Size and segment. CS35 Plus is the compact entry SUV — best for first-time SUV buyers and city commuters. CS55 Plus is the mid-size step up with more rear-seat space, a larger boot, and more equipment options. CS75 Plus is the flagship 5-seat SUV — biggest in cabin and load space, with the most powerful engines (2.0T), highest equipment grade, and the full ADAS suite. They're not built on the same platform — each is engineered for its segment rather than being a stretched version of the next size down.
Changan resale has strengthened through 2024–2025 alongside the brand's volume growth in SA. The 5-year transferable warranty supports resale value — a 3-year-old Changan still has 2 years of factory warranty remaining. The CS75 Pro and Hunter, in particular, hold value well because of strong specification grade and active demand in the used market. Honest framing: Changan resale won't beat a Hilux yet, but it's now competitive within its segment.
